LIFE SKILLS PROGRAM

Youth Club Meeting

Empowering Through Life Skills

Frequent moves within the foster care system often overshadow the essential development of life skills. Recognizing this gap, Aspire Alliance introduces its Life-Skills and Engagement Program. While Aspire Alliance offers vital support such as bus passes, resource referrals, phones, and job/education assistance, we acknowledge that many young adults lack the crucial life skills and positive networks required to break detrimental cycles.

Navigating Change with Confidence

Our innovative approach involves both youth and their dedicated volunteer mentors. The program's dual focus aims to conduct quarterly workshops and events, centered around specific skills. These topics, chosen collaboratively with our program's youth, may encompass areas like cooking & nutrition, human trafficking awareness, networking, effective communication, higher education pursuits, and interview techniques. Each session's second segment facilitates team-building activities, fostering an enjoyable and cohesive community.

Seize Control of Your Future

Our vision for the Life Skills Program is to instill a sense of belonging and purpose within our youth. We aspire to nurture a collective understanding of their unique needs and circumstances. In today's rapidly evolving society, with its fast pace and high demands, even well-adjusted young adults can feel overwhelmed. For those who have lacked adequate support, life's challenges can be truly formidable. Each session centers on imparting practical life skills, cultivating self-assurance through knowledge, and presenting resources that clarify choices and pathways. Our mission is to empower them to seize control of their futures, embrace responsibility, and embrace the opportunities of a changing world.

HOW IT WORKS

Former foster care youth and homeless community youth (18-21 years) live independently in a home with roommates. They receive professional case management, weekly counseling, job and life skills, educational assistance, and resource referrals, to help them meet their goals and leave the program ready to become productive members of our community. These vulnerable young adults are given a safe place to live and are taught how to care for themselves so that they can become productive, empowered members of our community.
